Pictures from holyday program 2010 from Amberg

Holiday program 2010

As part of Amberg's annual holiday scheme, we ran a course in photography for the tenth time. We taught adolescents the basics of photography, such as diaphragm, shutter speed, focal length, backlighting, etc. We didn't only teach theory, however. Many incredible photographs were taken of the great red spider web and a variety of playground slides; and portraiture wasn't neglected either, of course.

Next we took a walk through the site of the Landesgartenschau (a horticulture show), along the river Vils to the Kurfürstenbad (Amberg's best known public pool), past the tennis court "am Schanzl" and back to the sewage treatment plant. We took photographs of architecture, reflections in the water, and people. Furthermore we conducted interesting photographic experiments with wrapping foil.
A week later we met again, this time in the computer rooms of the folk high school for the purpose of digitally editing the images. Afterwards the pictures were printed and appraised by a jury.
On December 18th 2010, the vernissage was held. In the course of the award ceremony, the adolescents received great prizes, sponsored by Amberger Foto Express, Foto Frey, the cultural office of the town of Amberg, Siemens AG, Sparkasse Amberg, mayor Wolfgang Dandorfer, and the Amberger Stadtwerke.

Once more this had been a great opportunity to acquaint adolescents interested in photography with the art.
